Short Biography
Dr. Kienitz is currently a Head Development Engineer at FTXT Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Baoding, Hebei, China). He obtained his PhD of Chemical Engineering in 2008 at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH, USA) with Professors Thomas A. Zawodzinski and Harihara Baskaran on “The Effects of Cationic Contamination on Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells.”
Before his current position Dr. Kienitz worked on fuel cell research and development at Los Alamos National Laboratory (Los Alamos, NM, USA), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley, CA, USA), and W. L. Gore & Associates (Elkton, MD, USA). He has also led a multi-institution United States Department of Energy effort on electrochemical compressors utilizing green refrigerants for HVAC applications, and led development efforts on grid scale Zinc-Iron hybrid flow batteries. Dr. Kienitz’s main expertise is in stack and MEA development, polymer electrolyte membranes, and transport modeling.
