Short Biography
Dr. Nguyen Minh is an internationally well known expert on fuel cell technologies, especially solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), reversible SOFCs (RSOFCs), solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOECs), and related technologies. He has been involved in the development of fuel cells, SOFCs and new energy systems in the last thirty years. His experience covers a full spectrum of industrial/product R&D areas, ranging from technology assessment, strategy and roadmap formulation, fundamental and engineering study to processes and manufacturing development, system design and operation, prototype demonstration, and cost/market analysis. He is currently with Center for Energy Research at University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Before joining UCSD, he was Chief Scientist/Manager, Fuel Cells at GE and before that, Senior Manager, Fuel Cells at Honeywell/AlliedSignal.
Dr. Minh has been an active fuel cell advocate, has spoken extensively on fuel cell technologies and has been invited to give plenary lectures, seminars and presentations at numerous international and national meetings/conferences/workshops. He is the author/coauthor of the book “Science and Technology of Ceramic Fuel Cells” as well as 8 book chapters, 20 patents, and about 150 published technical articles on fuel cells and related technologies. Dr. Minh has received several awards including the 2007 Francis T. Bacon Medal and most recently 2017 Fuel Cell Seminar and Energy Exposition Award for his outstanding contributions to the technological achievements and commercialization of fuel cell systems.
